About

I am an artist from right outside of Boston, Massachusetts. My work is born of an experimental, nonlinear process rooted in the exploration of intuition and imagination. I find myself returning to questions of positionality—what it means to exist in my body as a person and to be an animal on this earth—concepts I explore not as separate entities but as interwoven forces that speak to one another. I think of myself or the subjects I paint as not entirely human. In doing so, I construct a personal mythology in which my figures exist in a liminal space bordering the divine. I ponder the relationship between what we consider to be divine, what we idolize, and the opposition of that to the animalistic nature I am greatly drawn to.

Many of my paintings are born from the vivid imagery of my dreams, where anthropomorphic figures and symbolic visions emerge, guiding me toward new ways of thinking and creating. I draw inspiration from a blend of ancient religious works and Byzantine art. The figures in my paintings represent what we all have, human and animal alike. Life and death dwell inside of each of us.

The act of revisiting and transforming a painting is essential to my exploration of imperfection and growth, which is something I consider a vital part of the artistic experience. My body of work reflects the interplay between the physical and the imaginative, the tangible and the spiritual, and the animal and the human. Through painting, I seek to create spaces where these boundaries blur. Painting, to me, is poetry. Giving each work the space and fuel to sing is what I am constantly attempting to provide. The world I build within each painting is constantly morphing and changing along with its inhabitants. There is never a single explanation or specific reason behind my paintings; I let them spill from my hand and hold their own meaning simply by existing.
